Friends of Camp Louise’s mission is to positively enrich the lives of today’s youth and adults through the camp experience in a safe environment by exposing campers to new adventures, ideas, environments, and education while having fun and creating lifelong friends and memories.
Friends of Camp Louise | Reviving a cherished camp in Shickshinny
Friends of Camp Louise is a nonprofit organization working to restore and reopen a former Girl Scout camp in Shickshinny that closed in 2016. Their mission is to preserve the legacy of Camp Louise so that future generations can explore nature, learn outdoor skills, and create lifelong memories in a space that once brought joy to so many.
Restoring a Scenic Outdoor Retreat
Set on 340 acres of forest, lakefront, and Jonestown Mountain views, Camp Louise offers the ideal setting for outdoor recreation and environmental education. The Friends aim to transform the property into a community-wide resource—not just for scouts, but for all children, families, and outdoor groups to enjoy. Programming will include opportunities for youth to learn about ecology, stewardship, leadership and healthy outdoor fun.
Rallying Support for a Beloved Tradition
Every donation and show of support helps the group move closer to purchasing the land and restoring its trails, cabins and gathering spaces. Fundraisers, volunteer days and memberships offer ways for supporters to get involved and ensure Camp Louise’s legacy continues.
