Geisinger Health Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to support Geisinger’s mission of delivering exceptional care with compassion. With a focus on enhancing programs at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Community Medical Center, the foundation aligns its fundraising priorities with Geisinger’s five core pillars: kindness, excellence, safety, learning and innovation. These guiding principles shape the care experience for patients and communities across Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Promoting Patient Wellbeing Through Kindness
The foundation funds projects that enhance the emotional and physical care environment for patients and families. This includes providing technology like iPads and iPods for in-patient use, installing calming sky ceilings in MRI rooms, and expanding Child Life Programs in pediatric units. Training in empathy and bedside manner for healthcare professionals ensures kindness is built into every level of care.
Excellence and Safety in Every Step
Philanthropy allows Geisinger to maintain the highest standards of clinical care. The foundation supports resources that help caregivers prioritize safety, such as the Child Safety and Advocacy Institute. These programs equip medical teams to respond to challenges and deliver safe, effective treatment.

Geisinger Health Foundation supports scholarships and educational programming for students at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and provides tuition assistance for nurses and staff seeking professional growth. The foundation also funds research and cutting-edge initiatives through programs like The Steele Institute for Health Innovation. From Springboard Healthy Scranton to the Fresh Food Farmacy®, donor support brings forward-thinking solutions to life.
