During the month of March, we celebrate both Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. Both are an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Dress for Success Luzerne County has brought that message home to NEPA with their Women In Power Campaign, where we’ve partnered with them to highlight incredible women in our community all month long.
Giving to Gain: Mandie Hendricks on Leadership, Growth, and Supporting Women
On March 6, 2026, members of the community gathered for the International Women’s Day Luncheon, benefiting Dress for Success Luzerne County, to celebrate the impact of women supporting women. The event also highlighted the Women in Power Campaign and embraced this year’s theme, “Give to Gain”, which recognizes how generosity through leadership and service creates growth for women and communities alike. One of the inspiring women featured this year is Mandie Hendricks, Financial Advisor at Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC.
Mandie began her career in financial services in 2009 and now helps build long-term financial independence through thoughtful savings and investing. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Bloomsburg University and is a Certified Financial Planner® professional. Outside of her professional work, she serves on the Luzerne County Community College Foundation Board and the Freeland YMCA Board of Directors.
For Mandie, the theme “Give to Gain” reflects an important lesson from her career: “The more you give – your time, knowledge, and support – the more you grow in return.” She explains that mentoring colleagues, sharing insights with clients, and helping others navigate financial decisions have strengthened relationships and deepened her own perspective. “ Giving creates trust and connection, and those relationships often become the foundation for both personal fulfillment and professional success.”
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Mandie sees the moment as both a celebration of progress and a reminder to keep opening doors for future generations. “It’s a moment to reflect on the progress women have made in business and leadership, while also recognizing the responsibility we have to continue opening doors.” Through her work in financial advising, she strives to empower individuals – especially women – to take control of their financial futures.
Mandie believes that mentorship and representation are essential, particularly in industries like finance, where women have historically been underrepresented. She shared, “When women see other women succeeding and supporting one another, it creates a ripple effect of confidence and opportunity.” Working in a traditionally male-dominated field shaped Mandie’s leadership approach. She shared that the challenges and experiences faced “pushed me to become more confident in my voice, more resilient, and more committed to helping others succeed.” Today, she prioritizes sharing knowledge, offering encouragement, and helping create opportunities for others.
Mandie encourages women to trust their abilities and embrace challenges. “Believe in your ability to contribute and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.” She also emphasizes that leadership is about impact, not titles. The International Women’s Day Luncheon and the work of Dress for Success Luzerne County continue to highlight the power of this philosophy. When women invest in lifting one another up through mentorship, service, and advocacy, everyone gains!
