NEPACMS Presents: “Sound Shapes” | Dietrich Theater, Tunkhannock
Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 7:00 PM
NEPACMS Presents: “Sound Shapes” at the Dietrich Theater in Tunkhannock takes place on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 7:00 PM, featuring an evening of chamber music built around musical form, symmetry, and evolving texture. The concert highlights the clarinet’s rich voice as it moves through works that emphasize continuous lines, dramatic contrasts, and a satisfying sense of return.
The program opens with York Bowen’s Phantasy Quintet, Op. 93, a single-flowing work where the bass clarinet’s deep resonance helps shape the piece’s seamless progression. Christopher Cerrone’s Nervous Systems follows, finding balance in the push and pull between modernist structure and ocean-like rhythmic motion. The evening concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, Op. 115, a landmark of the repertoire that arcs back to its beginning with quietly powerful echoes.
Featured artists include Calvin Falwell (clarinet), John Vaida (violin), Arthur Moeller (violin), Amy Iwazumi (viola), and Bryan Hayslett (cello). Tickets are $20 general admission, with $15 tickets for seniors and students.
