High Stakes, Fast Paces and Fierce Determination at the Back Mountain Triathlon
The 3rd Annual Back Mountain Triathlon returns to Harveys Lake on Sunday, August 24, 2025, bringing with it a full day of athletic challenge, community spirit and summer celebration. Sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), this prestigious event continues the region’s long-standing multi-sport tradition, drawing inspiration from the legendary Wilkes-Barre Triathlon and carrying its legacy forward with new energy.
Athletes from across the Northeast and beyond will take on the scenic course, combining swimming, biking and running through one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s most picturesque communities. Known for its spirited competition and welcoming atmosphere, the Back Mountain Triathlon not only tests endurance but also highlights the beauty of Harveys Lake and its surrounding landscapes.
Spectators are invited to line the course and cheer on competitors, creating a lively backdrop of encouragement. With food trucks, local vendors and family-friendly activities set up around the lake, the event blends competition with a festival-like atmosphere, making it a highlight of the summer season in Harveys Lake.
Giving Back to the Community
More than just a race, the Back Mountain Triathlon supports local nonprofits and community organizations. Each year, proceeds from the event help fund area initiatives, assist first responders and strengthen local programs. By combining athletic excellence with a spirit of generosity, the triathlon continues to make a lasting impact both on and off the course.
