Abington Heights Civic League Dance Academy | Youth Dance & Community Tradition in Clarks Summit
Abington Heights Civic League Dance Academy in Clarks Summit, PA has provided dance instruction for local students since 1957. The long-running program welcomes children from pre-K through 12th grade and offers a supportive environment for dancers of all experience levels.
Classes run six days a week from September through late April. Students are placed according to skill level and teacher discretion. The academy offers both recreational classes and opportunities to join competition teams.
Young dancers can begin with Kinder Dance, a gymboree-style class designed for three and four year olds. As students progress, they can explore a wide range of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, acro and musical theater. Pointe classes are available for advanced dancers in grades seven through twelve.
The program emphasizes skill development, teamwork and confidence through structured dance education. Experienced instructors lead classes with support from student demonstrators and volunteers throughout the year.
The academy also hosts summer dance camps that allow students to continue learning and practicing outside the regular season.
As part of its longstanding tradition, the annual recital follows the theme “Children Dancing for Children,” with proceeds supporting child-focused organizations in the community.
