A Peaceful Park in Factoryville
Enjoy some fresh air at Christy Mathewson Park in Factoryville. This community space has a baseball field, basketball courts, and picnic pavilion. A walking trail circles the park. Along the trail, you’ll find “play pockets,” small areas with playground equipment for the kids.
The park honors Factoryville’s most famous native. Christy Mathewson was born in Factoryville in 1880 and became a star pitcher for the New York Giants. He was one of the first players inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. His legacy lives on at the park’s baseball field, where the crack of the bat and the cheer of the crowd fill the air each spring.
Parking is available at the Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center. Enter the park by crossing over the scenic covered bridge.
