Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe, PA is a scenic destination for year-round outdoor activities in the Pocono Mountains. Whether visitors are enjoying a vibrant fall foliage hike, swimming on a summer afternoon, or trekking through a snow-dusted forest in winter, this park offers something for every season.

The 345-acre lake is the centerpiece of the park, providing opportunities for fishing and kayaking. Anglers regularly catch bass, walleye, perch, crappie, pickerel, and catfish. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, guests can enjoy a sand beach and swimming area, along with popular boat rentals that include canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, paddleboards, and rowboats.

Camping is available with 135 sites, including cozy cottages and lakeside tent spots offering beautiful sunrise views. The campground includes modern restrooms and showers, making overnight stays comfortable and convenient.

Hiking and biking are popular on the park’s trails. The Shoreline, Fireline, Orchard, and Board Bottom Trails offer scenic views year-round, especially during the fall. Mauch Chunk Lake Park also connects directly to the Switchback Railroad Trail, leading adventurers into downtown Jim Thorpe. The Carbon County Environmental Center provides more trails, wildlife viewing areas, and nature education programs for all ages nearby.
