Miller Mountain | Scenic Views & Rugged Trails in Tunkhannock

Miller Mountain in Tunkhannock is a striking peak within Wyoming County and a defining feature of the Endless Mountains region. Rising to 2,216 feet, this “stand alone” mountain towers above the Susquehanna River and offers breathtaking views of the valley below. The property spans more than 2,500 acres and became part of the Pinchot State Forest in late 2023, opening new opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Visitors to Miller Mountain will find a rugged landscape filled with steep slopes, forested ridges, and sweeping overlooks. While there is not yet a formal trail system in place, adventurous hikers and explorers can discover old logging paths and unmarked routes that wind through the forest. The climb is notoriously challenging, but the reward is a panorama of farmland, river bends, and the nearby town of Tunkhannock.

This state-owned property is open for passive recreation, including hiking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, and birdwatching. As the Bureau of Forestry continues to assess resources and establish boundaries, guests are reminded to follow all state forest regulations and respect private property that borders the mountain. Trail maps, marked paths, and parking areas are still in development, making this destination ideal for those who prefer raw and untamed adventure.

From its dramatic slopes to its wide-open views, Miller Mountain is an iconic landmark that continues to inspire both residents and visitors.

Miller Mountain in Tunkhannock is a rugged and rewarding escape with scenic views and unmatched natural beauty.
