The Woodlands Campus | Nature, learning & outdoor discovery in La Plume
The Woodlands Campus in La Plume is Keystone College’s 170-acre nature preserve, offering seven miles of scenic hiking trails through forests, meadows, and streams. Open daily from dawn to dusk, this preserved landscape provides a peaceful escape for hikers, nature lovers, and photographers alike. Visitors can cross the suspension bridge, explore the vernal pool and biology pond, and take in stunning views from the scenic overlook.
The Woodlands also serves as a hands-on educational space for the Keystone College Environmental Education Institute (KCEEI), where students and community members engage in outdoor learning, research, and conservation programs. The on-site maple sugaring operation—complete with a sugar shack and more than 275 taps—offers a sweet glimpse into sustainable resource management.
Dedicated in part as the Howard Jennings Nature Preserve, the Woodlands Campus remains a symbol of environmental stewardship and education.
