A Walk in the Woods; Exploring Frances Slocum State Park
This summer, we had the opportunity to explore the scenic trails at Frances Slocum State Park. Established in the late 1960s, this beloved nature retreat showcases diverse landscapes and some of the region’s most beautiful natural features.
We began by hiking some of the park’s popular trails, including the Frances Slocum Trail, Deer Trail, and the Larch Tree Trail. These trails took us through a mix of forested areas, wetlands, and open meadows, offering plenty of chances to spot local wildlife along the way.
The highlight of our hike was the Lake Trail, which wraps around the park’s stunning 165-acre horseshoe-shaped lake. With its peaceful setting, the trail is ideal for both casual walkers and avid hikers looking for a serene escape.
