A Peaceful Summer Hike at Tobyhanna State Park

Tobyhanna State Park is just one of 18 incredible state parks here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and it captures the region’s beauty perfectly. We spent a few summer days exploring the park’s trails and circling the lake. Each visit felt tranquil, with calm waters mirroring the sky and forest all around.

It’s a popular spot, with plenty of people enjoying the hiking trails, beach, and water. But it never feels crowded. The park is spread out enough that you can always find a quiet, secluded place. We loved seeing families lounging on the sandy beach and watching boats and paddle boards drift across the lake.

Wildlife sightings were a highlight, too. From deer in the woods to herons along the shoreline, there’s always something to discover.

A hike through Tobyhanna State Park is the perfect way to experience everything that makes Northeastern Pennsylvania special—natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and moments of calm that stay with you long after you leave.
