A peek behind the scenes
From massive, half-wall of windows behind the Barrel Room bar, you get a peek into the brewhouse. The afternoon sun electrifies the cavernous space through massive floor-to-ceiling windows. Natural light touches all things from polished steel tanks and tools to then concrete floor to the pallet of patient kegs. Gauges, small dials, buttons and switches interrupt futile efforts in tracing the intricate snake-work of steel pipes and hoses.

Soon, the vegetal funk of boiling wort reunites the mind and senses. The brewer’s playlist echoes between a back and forth at the brew team’s roundtable (serious tasting business in progress). The entire space, in the midst of its typical daily vibrations, is at once, workshop, laboratory, production line, quality control, inspiration and creation. And all of that goes into kegs and cans and it’s pulled from the taproom bar fresh, cold and always consistent.
Go behind the scenes at Wallenpaupack Brewing Company with brewery tours every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company — The Taproom

A Taproom with a View — and a Vibe
The taproom at Wallenpaupack Brewing separates into three distinct spaces – the Brewpub, Barrel Room and Beer Garden.
Inside the spacious Brewpub, you’ll find a stunning blend of industrial-chic design and rustic Pocono Mountains’ charm. Massive windows invite the outdoors in, filling the space with natural light that dances across polished concrete floors, tables, old barrels and steel chairs. At the center of it all, a cozy stacked stone fireplace creates a warm gathering spot no matter the season. There’s certainly a European beer hall vibe, where conversations flow as freely as the draft beers.

Beyond the Brewpub, the Barrel Room brings you closer to all the brewhouse action. This quieter space, scattered with barrels repurposed as tables and wooden stools, offers a more beer-centric atmosphere. Through a massive viewing window behind the bar, guests can glimpse the heart of the whole operation. The brewhouse with its gleaming stainless-steel tanks and towering stacks of kegs serves as a central figure in the room. It connects the dots between the process and the pour. Here, you’ll also find to-go coolers and a merch corner.

On the far west side of the building, just outside the Brewpub sits the Beer Garden. The casual, outdoor gathering space features picnic tables, yard games, fire pits and easy access to the interior bar. From late spring through summer and into fall, the family-friendly Beer Garden remains one of the hottest hangouts for beer enthusiasts, families and the Lake Wallenpaupack crowd.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company – The Beer

From Ale to Lager and Everything in Between
The taproom slate at Wallenpaupack Brewing Company covers the whole spectrum from light to dark, ale to pilsner, hazy IPA to barrel-aged stout. Both the Brewpub and the Barrel Room feature over 15 handles pouring it all from the classics and flagships to seasonal brews and unique creations. They try to steer clear of gimmicks. That said, if you’re looking for something trendy, it’s likely they have their own spin on it.

We started with the extensive ale program. The famous Paupack Cream Ale was first up with a light, crisp hop backbone and refreshing smoothness. At 4.5%, this is your all-day cruiser. The signature Largemouth IPA weighing in at 6.5% was a hop-forward favorite with a clean, citrus finish. Of course, we’ll never pass up a “hefe”. The Hawley Hefewezen, at 5.1%, poured cloudy and velvety smooth with a dry, slightly spicy, banana bread-y finish. We finished off our ale tour with Kroon, their 2024 GABF Gold Medal Winner and World Beer Cup Silver Medal Winner. This beautiful golden Belgian strong packs a punch at 9%, but you’d never know it from the muted sweetness and light crisp texture.

For the lager offerings, the stalwart flagship, No Frills Pils lives up to the simplicity of its name. Clean, light, refreshing and beautifully-balanced between malty and hoppy. Then it was time for something new and a bit experimental. For the Love of Lager: Corn Lager pours with a unique purple-ish hue. And it delivers a light-bodied, slightly fruity version of your standard lager. From there, we moved on to the Festbier. The stunning, bright straw-colored lager is crisp like an early fall day with just enough malty character to warm you up. All of the lagers ranged between 5 and 5.5% ABV.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company – The Food

A Beer-Friendly Food Menu Made for Perfect Pairings
At Wallenpaupack Brewing Company, the casual dining menu was designed with beer lovers in mind. With a creative blend of local ingredients, comforting pub fare, and seasonally-inspired favorites — pairing each dish with something from the tap list is all part of the fun.
It’s only logical to start with something shareable like Bone-In Wings. Our advice: get em’ tossed in the signature “For the Love of Lager Rauch Doppelbock BBQ” sauce. Of course, the Gochujang sauce with sesame seeds is the local favorite. You also can’t go wrong with the rich Rustic Poutine made with cheese curds and scallions or the Old-Fashioned Burger.

Lighter fare like the Greek Chickpea Burger and Buffalo Chicken Caesar Wrap pair perfectly with the Paupack Cream Ale or a signature IPA. Vegetarians and families alike will find something to love, with options like the IPA Caesar Salad, crispy tempura Bang Bang Shrimp, and a dedicated Kid’s Menu featuring burgers, mac and cheese, and chicken tenders.
Whether you’re dining in the Brewpub, the Barrel Room or out in the relaxed Beer Garden, Wallenpaupack Brewing Company offers a full culinary experience to match their award-winning beers. With bold flavors, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere near Lake Wallenpaupack, this Pocono Mountains brewery proves that great beer deserves great food.
