Take a Walk Through History

The Hawley Trail is a 5.5-mile trail system that begins at the D&H Canal Park at Lock 31 and continues toward Lake Wallenpaupack. The trail starts along the historic towpath, then connects to existing walking paths at Bingham Park and Riverside Park. The trail then continues through the charming, historic streets of downtown Hawley. Much of the trail follows the Lackawaxen River, which boasts impressive scenery.

Interpretive signs along the trail will give you a glimpse at the local ecology and history. You’ll discover Hawley’s heritage, from the railroading days to the textile industry to the more recent tourism boom.

The Hawley Trail is a project of the Wayne-Pike Trails and Waterways Alliance. They hope to connect and build more trails along the Lackawaxen River.
