Intro to Pottery Class for Adults | Peaceful Potter, Wilkes-Barre
Thursdays, February 5, 12, 19 & 26, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM
Intro to Pottery Class for Adults at Peaceful Potter in Wilkes-Barre meets on Thursday evenings, February 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, introducing adults to the basics of handbuilding and wheel throwing. This four-week series is ideal for beginners who want a structured, hands-on start in clay.
In the first class, students learn foundational handbuilding techniques to create simple, functional pieces. The following three sessions focus on the pottery wheel, where participants practice centering, pulling walls and shaping basic forms with guidance and demonstrations from the instructor.
Two weeks after the final class, students return on a weekend at their leisure to glaze their fired pieces. All finished items made in the class will be microwave and dishwasher safe, making them both practical and beautiful for everyday use.
Each student is required to have or purchase a pottery tool kit, which should include basic throwing tools, a one-gallon bucket, a towel and a car wash sponge for cleanup.
