Intro to Pottery Class for Adults at Peaceful Potter in Wilkes-Barre meets on Wednesday evenings, April 8, 15, 22 and 28, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, giving beginners a structured introduction to working with clay. This four-week series is ideal for adults who want to experience both handbuilding and the pottery wheel in a welcoming studio environment.
In the first class, students learn the basics of handbuilding, using simple techniques to create functional and decorative forms. During the following three sessions, the focus shifts to the pottery wheel, where participants practice centering, pulling walls and shaping basic vessels with step-by-step guidance from the instructor.
Two weeks after the final session, students return on a weekend at their leisure to glaze their fired pieces. All items made in this class will be microwave and dishwasher safe, making them practical for everyday use at home.
Each student is required to have or purchase a pottery tool kit that includes basic throwing tools, a one-gallon bucket, a towel and a car wash sponge for cleanup.
