Intro to Pottery Class for Adults | Peaceful Potter, Wilkes-Barre

Thursdays, April 9, 16, 23 & 30, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM

Intro to Pottery Class for Adults at Peaceful Potter in Wilkes-Barre meets on Thursday evenings, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, offering beginners a step-by-step introduction to working with clay. This four-week series is designed for adults who want to try both handbuilding and the pottery wheel in a relaxed studio setting.

In the first class, students learn the basics of handbuilding, using foundational techniques to create simple, functional forms. During the following three sessions, the focus shifts to the pottery wheel, where participants practice centering clay, pulling walls and shaping basic vessels with instructor guidance.

Two weeks after the final class, students return on a weekend at their leisure to glaze their fired pieces. All finished items made in this class will be microwave and dishwasher safe, making them practical for everyday use.

Each student is required to have or purchase a pottery tool kit that includes basic throwing tools, a one-gallon bucket, a towel and a car wash sponge for cleanup.
