Intro to Pottery for Adults | Peaceful Potter, Wilkes-Barre

Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 18 & 25, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM

Intro to Pottery for Adults at Peaceful Potter in Wilkes-Barre meets on Wednesday evenings, March 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, giving beginners a structured introduction to working with clay. This four-week series is designed for adults who want to explore both handbuilding and the pottery wheel in a supportive studio environment.

During the first class, students will learn the basics of handbuilding, creating simple forms using foundational techniques. The following three sessions focus on the pottery wheel, where participants practice centering clay, pulling walls and shaping basic vessels with step-by-step guidance from the instructor.

Two weeks after the final class, students return on a weekend at their leisure to glaze their fired pieces. All finished items made in the course will be microwave and dishwasher safe, making them practical for everyday use at home.

Each student is required to have or purchase a pottery tool kit, which should include basic throwing tools, a one-gallon bucket, a towel and a car wash sponge for cleanup.
