WVS Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run | Kirby Park, Wilkes-Barre

The WVS Cherry Blossom 5 Mile Run will take place at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM. Timed to coincide with the park’s cherry trees in bloom and the Cherry Blossom Festival weekend, the race offers runners a scenic springtime course.
The run begins and ends in the meadow area of Kirby Park and follows a fast, flat out-and-back route along the dike on macadam pavement. The race will be chip timed. Packet pickup begins at 7:30 AM at the pavilion inside Kirby Park, and the first 200 participants will receive a commemorative running cap.
Awards are given to the top male and female overall, along with medals for the top three in each age group. This event is the second race of the WVS Vince Wojnar Triple Crown.The series includes the Winter’s End on March 22 and the 20K Run on November 8. Cash and participation prizes are awarded at the end of the series.
Registration is $20 for Wyoming Valley Striders members and $25 for non-members, increasing to $25 and $30 respectively after April 1, 2026. Runners must pre-register online by Friday, April 24, 2026 at noon. Race day registration will not be available.
