Rockin’ the River Brings Live Music, Food Trucks & Summer Fun to Downtown Wilkes-Barre This July
Since its debut in 2019, Rockin’ the River has become a summer staple in Downtown Wilkes-Barre. Now in its 7th year, the highly anticipated outdoor concert series brings three unforgettable evenings of live music to the Wilkes-Barre River Common. Each Friday evening in the last three weeks of July, thousands gather on the Susquehanna River’s scenic banks for family-friendly fun, food trucks, local beer vendors and top-notch musical performances.
Presented by the Luzerne County Visitors Bureau, Rockin’ the River continues its tradition of showcasing a high-energy lineup featuring three nationally recognized tribute bands. Each show opens with a talented local act, spotlighting NEPA’s vibrant music scene before headliners take the stage under the open sky. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, dance along the riverwalk and enjoy free, live music in one of the region’s most unique outdoor venues.

ZOSO — The Ultimate Led Zepplin Experience
ZOSO brings their legendary Led Zeppelin tribute to this year’s Rockin’ the River, channeling the raw energy and iconic sound of the original band. From blistering guitar solos to powerful vocals, fans can expect crowd-pleasers like “Fool in the Rain” and “Stairway to Heaven.” The night kicks off with an opening set by local favorites Flaxy Morgan.

Halfway to Hell closes out Rockin’ the River with a high-voltage tribute to AC/DC that’s sure to shake Wilkes-Barre all night long. Expect thunderous renditions of classics like “You Shook Me All Night Long” and “Back in Black,” plus plenty more fan favorites. Opening the final night is powerhouse local act Aaron Fink & The Fury.

Rockin’ the River is free and open to all ages
Every Rockin’ the River show is free to attend and open to music lovers of all ages, making it one of the region’s most accessible summer events. Guests are welcome to bring blankets or chairs and spread out across the River Common’s grass lawn or concrete seating areas. For safety and clear access, organizers kindly ask that attendees avoid sitting on stairways.
Gates open at 5 PM, giving visitors time to explore food trucks, grab drinks and find a spot before the music begins. All performances will run from 6 PM to 9 PM, rain or shine.
In true local spirit, Rockin’ the River also showcases some of NEPA’s favorite flavors. A variety of food vendors will be on-site serving crowd-pleasing bites. Susquehanna Brewing Company will pour fresh, local beer. Guests can also enjoy wine selections provided by Bank + Vine, adding a touch of local flair to this beloved summer concert series.
Event Parking
Downtown Wilkes-Barre offers convenient access to over 800 metered parking spaces, all located within a short walk of the Rockin’ the River venue. Metered parking is free after 6 PM. Prime parking areas include North Franklin Street, North Main Street, Union Street and the blocks surrounding Public Square.

Wilkes-Barre's River Common
The River Common in Downtown Wilkes-Barre is located on the eastern bank of the Susquehanna River between the Market St. Bridge and the Luzerne County Courthouse.
The manicured green space features a massive, 750-seat amphitheater, trees, gardens, paved walkways and a fishing pier. The centrally-located park also features easy access to plenty of downtown parking, Public Square, restaurants, shopping and more.
The space is often the site of local events and it can be booked for private gatherings like weddings and family reunions.
