Long Pond | Walk-in pickerel fishing & wild views in Delaware State Forest

Long Pond in Pike County offers a quiet 10-acre fishing destination surrounded by untouched forest within Delaware State Forest. Best known for its healthy pickerel population, this wild pond is ideal for anglers looking to escape crowds and enjoy a peaceful, backwoods setting. With no cabins or structures in sight, Long Pond delivers a true sense of seclusion in the Pocono Mountains.

Access & Natural Shoreline

Reaching Long Pond requires a short hike. Take S.R. 402 south from I-84, then turn west onto Ranch Road and continue to the gate. From there, it’s walk-in only. The pond’s edge is brushy and boggy, creating excellent habitat for predator fish like pickerel. While visitors might hear distant traffic from I-84, the surrounding woods and quiet shoreline provide a relaxing outdoor escape.

Fishing & Usage Guidelines

Due to its wild appearance and limited access, Long Pond is a great spot for low-impact, day-use fishing. Overnight camping is not permitted. Instead, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the solitude, cast from the banks, and explore the nearby trails before returning the same day. The remote setting and undeveloped shoreline make it a rewarding stop for anglers who enjoy quiet forest waters.

Long Pond in Delaware State Forest offers walk-in access, pickerel fishing, and quiet surroundings in the Pocono Mountains.
