Susquehanna Warrior Trail | Scenic Riverfront Trail for All Skill Levels in Luzerne County
The Susquehanna Warrior Trail in Berwick offers 12.5 miles of peaceful, riverside recreation along a reclaimed railroad corridor. Once part of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad, this crushed-stone trail now welcomes walkers, runners and cyclists of all levels. Thanks to the efforts of the Susquehanna Warrior Trail Council, the path has been restored as a safe, scenic space for the community.
The trail runs parallel to Route 11 and follows the Susquehanna River, offering sweeping water views and chances to spot bald eagles, herons and otters. It also passes by the historic North Branch Canal and other notable sites, blending nature with local history. Shaded sections make it especially inviting during warmer months.
Each spring, the Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K Race and Fun Walk draws locals and visitors for a day of fitness and fundraising. Proceeds from the event help support maintenance and improvements.
