Tobyhanna State Park | Year-Round Outdoor Recreation in the Pocono Mountains

Tobyhanna State Park in Monroe and Wayne Counties stands out as one of NEPA’s 18 state parks and offers a scenic, four-season destination in the Pocono Mountains. The park surrounds the serene 170-acre Tobyhanna Lake and features a wide variety of outdoor activities for families, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts alike.

Tobyhanna State Park’s popular Lakeside Trail forms a five-mile loop around the lake, with partially paved sections that make it accessible for walkers and bikers in warmer months. The trail opens to snowmobilers and cross-country skiers during winter, creating a hub for cold-weather state park recreation. Ice fishing is also permitted when conditions allow, drawing anglers to the frozen lake. For fall hiking, visitors can enjoy the vibrant foliage along the more rugged Range Trail and the challenging Frank Gantz Trail, which connects to nearby Gouldsboro State Park.

During summer, Tobyhanna State Park offers a sandy beach for swimming, as well as kayak and boat rentals for those who want to explore the lake from the water. Multiple picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills are available throughout the wooded and open spaces.

If you’re planning an outdoor getaway, the park features campsites with modern amenities, fire rings, picnic tables, and a playground, offering a full Pocono Mountain state park experience. The park is dog-friendly, so feel free to leash up your pup and bring them on the adventure too!

Tobyhanna State Park in Tobyhanna delivers a full outdoor experience with trails, lake access, and year-round Pocono Mountains recreation.
