Toyota SportsPlex | Year-round skating, hockey & family fun in Wilkes-Barre
Toyota SportsPlex in Wilkes-Barre, PA is more than just the official practice facility of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins—it’s a dynamic hub for public skating, hockey, figure skating, curling, and community events. Conveniently located at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park (formerly Coal Street Park), this premier ice arena welcomes skaters of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just lacing up for the first time, the SportsPlex delivers fun on and off the ice.
Hockey, Figure Skating & Curling
The rink is home to the Wilkes-Barre Junior Pens travel league, Wilkes University and Wyoming Seminary hockey teams, and in-house youth and adult hockey programs. Camps and clinics throughout the year often feature instruction from Penguins staff and former pros. Figure skaters can train with the Diamond City Figure Skating Club, a member of U.S. Figure Skating. The Anthracite Curling Club also calls the SportsPlex home, offering leagues and Learn to Curl workshops for new and experienced curlers.
Dek Hockey & Birthday Parties
Off the ice, the outdoor Dek Hockey rink offers non-skating leagues for both youth and adults with minimal equipment required. For celebrations, birthday party packages include skate rentals, party rooms, food, and even optional lessons. Public skating sessions are held Friday through Sunday with rentals available on-site.
Training & Special Events
Special programming includes goalie clinics, skills sessions, and the Coal Street Hockey School, with options for all skill levels. Youth and adult players benefit from small group instruction, including summer training led by college and former pro athletes.
