If you visited Hawley in mid-1800s, you probably wouldn’t recognize Bingham Park. It would be completely underwater because it served as a canal basin and boat yard during the anthracite boom — quite a contrast from the peaceful, lush fields it’s known for today.
Bingham Park offers outdoor fun for the entire family with tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground. It’s been a local hub for baseball games for over a hundred years, and as soon as spring comes, you’re sure to hear the crack of a bat. It also has a skate park, so bring your board and get ready to shred down the ramps.
Bingham Park is also home to the Hawley River Walk Trail, a loop trail that will lead you along the mighty Lackawaxen River and historic railroads.
