Mission Statement

Bear Creek Camp’s mission is to invite all people to explore, celebrate, and grow in relationship with God, nature, and community.

Bear Creek Camp | Nonprofit nurturing faith, nature & leadership in the Poconos

Bear Creek Camp is a nonprofit ministry of the Southeastern and Northeastern Pennsylvania Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), offering year-round opportunities for youth and adults to connect with nature, explore faith, and build inclusive, compassionate communities. Located on nearly 3,000 acres in the Pocono Mountains, Bear Creek Camp blends outdoor adventure with spiritual growth, leadership development & environmental education in a safe and welcoming setting.

Living Out Core Values with Purpose

At the heart of their mission is a vision of a world where all people feel accepted and loved. This guiding principle informs the camp’s core values: inclusivity, care for creation, faith-sharing, empathy, leadership development, and joy-filled adventure. These values are woven into every program—from residential summer youth camps and nature day camps to weekend retreats and environmental learning sessions—creating transformative experiences for all ages.

Accredited, Safe & Community-Focused

A proud member of Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and accredited by the American Camp Association, they maintain the highest standards in programming and safety. The camp also welcomes group rentals, making its peaceful woodland setting a year-round destination for spiritual reflection, team-building, and personal renewal. Whether a camper, counselor, retreat participant, or visitor, everyone is invited to grow, lead, and make a lasting impact.

Bear Creek Camp builds community, inspires leadership & nurtures faith through year-round outdoor ministry in the Pocono Mountains.
