Nataupsky Family Dentistry – Kingston, PA
After his service in WWII, Dr. Daniel Gordon returned to the Wyoming Valley to open the doors to his new dental practice in 1945 in the heart of Wilkes-Barre. Since then, his son, Dr. Gary Nataupsky, joined the practice in 1979 and was lucky enough to enjoy many years working alongside him as a partner and mentor. In 2012, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and third generation dentist, Dr. Jason Nataupsky (Dr. Jay), decided to return to the Wyoming Valley with his wife, Kelsey Nataupsky, to practice with his father. Over the past ten years, and with the support of many people along the way, they have grown to become a four-practitioner office incorporating the latest dental technology available in the profession.
According to Dr. Jay, at Nataupsky Family Dentistry, “We pride ourselves on the patient’s experience and therefore focus on cultivating a safe, clean, comfortable environment no matter the purpose of your appointment. Whether it be tooth whitening, veneers, Invisalign, or toddler play time with our friendly certified therapy dog, Scarlett, the goal is always to create positive experiences that pave the road for future successful visits.”
Family Matters
For Dr. Jay, returning back to NEPA was both about family and the location. He says: “There’s something to be said about growing up in a small town that you just don’t get living outside of a city. My humble roots are woven in the way I live as a father, husband, practitioner, and helper. I attribute going to school in Northeastern Pennsylvania, especially in high school at Wyoming Seminary, to be one of the biggest reasons I evolved into the person I am today. Simply put, NEPA is home. Great pizza, too.”
Dr. Jay and his family give back to the local community as much as they can. “It’s a tradition in my family to serve and give back to the community to which we belong. As a family, my wife and I sit on numerous Luzerne County-based nonprofit organizations which we believe are the backbone to this great community. One local event that I am particularly excited about is the Junior Achievement Inspire event that just happened last week at Mohegan Sun on April 16 & 17 that directly has a positive impact on our youth of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The JA event serves to engage the next generation in multiple career opportunities available locally. I bring a fully operational dental chair, a 3D digital scanner, and an oral cancer detection device for live demonstrations to give a bird’s eye view into the profession,” says Dr. Jay.
Continuing the Legacy
According to Dr. Jay, “As the medical world is changing to a more corporate model much of the personal touch in dentistry has been lost, and our valley is no exception to that. My father and I believe that happy people provide the best healthcare, and our office is a happy place. Sometimes a smile and friendly interaction can make even the most apprehensive patient feel at home. After 80 years of dedication and servitude to the Wyoming Valley, the most important thing we have maintained as practitioners at Nataupsky Family Dentistry is continuing to be the best at serving up this experience.”
