Intro to Pottery Class for Adults | Peaceful Potter, Wilkes-Barre
Wednesdays, February 4, 11, 18 & 25, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM
Intro to Pottery Class for Adults at Peaceful Potter in Wilkes-Barre meets on Wednesday evenings, February 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, giving beginners a structured introduction to working with clay. This month-long series is designed for adults who want to explore both handbuilding and wheel throwing in a supportive studio setting.
In the first class, students learn the basics of handbuilding, creating simple forms using foundational techniques. Over the next three weeks, the focus shifts to the pottery wheel, where participants practice centering, pulling walls and shaping basic vessels with guidance from the instructor.
Two weeks after the final session, students return on a weekend at their leisure to glaze their fired pieces. All finished items made in this class will be microwave and dishwasher safe, making them both functional and enjoyable to use at home.
Each student is required to have or purchase a pottery tool kit, which should include basic throwing tools, a one-gallon bucket, a towel and a car wash sponge for cleanup.
