Kick Back on Lake Time
Lake Carey is a 182-acre lake located right outside of Tunkhannock. There’s always something going on at this popular getaway spot. In the summer, jet skis whiz across the water and swimmers leap off the docks. When winter’s deep freeze sets in, it’s a great spot for ice fishing.
The shore is lined with full-time residences and summer homes, so most of the land surrounding the lake is private. Dozens of vacation rentals are available, from cute cottages to log cabins to historic homes.
Anglers love to power up their boats and go fishing on Lake Carey. A public boat launch is available at Frank’s Marina on Marina Drive. They charge a small fee for the launch and parking.
The last weekend in July marks the annual Lake Carey Day celebration. The festival includes footraces, a poker run, kayak and canoe races, bingo, raffles, music, and a chicken barbecue.
