The Tomato Bar & Bistro, a Pittston hot spot, is owned and run by Pittston and NEPA natives who know the area and the locals. The Tomato Bar offers a unique dining experience that’s rooted in both the love of the city and its favorite fruit.
The exposed brick interior lends to the turn-of-the-century styled pub feel while the long black bar top and high, lime green stools mix in a touch of the modern.
There’s fun to be had outside as well on a tiered patio with seating accessible from both floors and a full view of the spectacular solar system-themed mural – the sun, of course, replaced by a tomato.
Menu Highlights
Tomatoes play a significant role on this menu—unsurprisingly—but, not everything features them.
Try the roasted garlic hummus with toasted naan bread and crudité or the ahi poke bowl to start. Follow them with a prime flat iron steak, London Time Jail Island cod, a half-roasted chicken with creamy garlic mashers, veg du jour, and herbed jus.
For a healthier outing, order the beet, wedge, or Rocket (baby arugula, EVOO, cracked pepper, lemon, and shaved Grana Padana cheese) salad.
But if you’re looking for the local favorite, get the Gnocchi Bolognese or the classic tomato soup paired with a grilled cheese.
