Education and Campus Life at Penn State Scranton
Penn State Scranton is a full-service Penn State campus located in Dunmore, PA, just outside Scranton. The campus provides students with the resources of a world-renowned university while maintaining a smaller, community-focused learning environment.
Students can complete several bachelor’s and associate degree programs entirely at the campus. Many also begin their education here before transferring to University Park or another Penn State location through the university’s 2+2 program.
Campus life encourages involvement through clubs, leadership opportunities and campus events. Students build strong connections with peers and faculty while experiencing the traditions and academic excellence associated with Penn State.
Academic Programs and Learning Opportunities
Penn State Scranton offers a wide range of academic programs designed to support both career preparation and continued study. Students can pursue bachelor’s degrees in fields such as biology, business, corporate communication, psychology, mechanical engineering, information technology and nursing.
Associate degree programs include business administration, human development and family studies, information sciences and technology and multidisciplinary studies.
Students also have the option to begin the first two years of course work for more than 275 Penn State majors before completing their degree at another campus. No matter where students start or finish, they graduate with a Penn State degree recognized across the country.

Athletics and recreation also play an important role in campus life. The Nittany Lions compete in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, offering varsity sports along with club and intramural activities.
