Keep an eye out for awesome Chamber events this month!

The Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce wants to keep you updated each month with everything that their volunteer councils have planned this year, including featured upcoming events, community programs, and business community features!

Their Councils include the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, Women’s Council, Young Professionals Council, Nonprofit Council, Government Affairs Council, and Ambassadors Council!

 

Council Event Spotlight -“Let It Fly for the Y” Cornhole Tournament Happening Tonight!

 

 

Join us tonight for the Regional Young Professionals Council for the 2nd Annual “Let It Fly for the Y” Cornhole Tournament July 11th at Montage Mountain in partnership with Endless Corn! Proceeds from this event will benefit the Greater Wyoming Valley YMCA’s children’s programming. Registration will be available at the door starting at 5:30.

Registration | 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Bags Fly | 6:30 PM
Early Bird Cost: $50 (Day of event $60)

  • Team of Two(2) people.
  • Food Ticket Included!

Spectator Donation $15 (Includes a food ticket)
Beverages will be available for purchase at the venue! 

Bring your own partner. The tournament features two (2) divisions to accommodate all skill levels. Teams play a minimum of 4 rounds. The Top 12 teams for each division will go into a single elimination bracket. There will be 12 sets of boards, basket raffles, and a 50/50 drawing.

Cash Prize for the 1st ($350)2nd ($150), & 3rd ($50) place finishes in the Competitive division! Additional prizes for the top two finishers in the Backyard/Supporter Division.

*Please choose your division when registering. 

Divisions: 

Backyard/Supporter: Inviting novice to lower-skilled players to come and have some fun and try the great sport of cornhole while supporting a great cause.

Competitive: Higher Skilled teams looking to take home the glory and $$$ Prize!

Registration is $50 per team and proceeds will go to the Greater Wyoming Valley YMCA.

Community Opportunities: Celebrate Amazing Young Professionals at the 2023 Young Professionals Awards!

 

On Thursday, August 31st, 2023 we are hosting the 8th Annual Young Professionals Awards, in collaboration with our regional chamber partners, recognizing amazing young professionals helping to move our region forward. Come and see the exciting live announcements of this year’s winners and honor these amazing young leaders in our area!

This year’s categories include:

Intern of the Year – Student who has shown excellence in their internship program, including for credit and not for credit, ranging from July 1 2022 – June 30 2023

Educator of the Year – Teacher, administrator, professor, tutor, or childcare educator who has shown excellence in the field of education

Trailblazer of the Year – A Young Professional who has shown excellence in bringing innovative ideas to life and taking creative risks by inventing or expanding a product, service or initiative that enhances the quality of life in our region.

Small Business Owner of the Year – Small business owner or Entrepreneur who has shown excellence and innovation in running and maintaining their own small business(es) with under 25 employees.

STEAM Professional of the Year – Individual who exemplifies excellence in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Examples of past nominations include: Technicians, Engineers, Designers, Illustrators, Animators

Hero of the Year – First responder, military personnel, or individual who has demonstrated heroic actions or efforts in the community – Sponsorship Available!

Cultural Champion of the Year – Individual who has demonstrated excellence as an advocate for the arts and culture in the community

Voluntary Leader of the Year – Individual who exemplifies excellence in volunteer service in Northeast Pennsylvania

NEPA Influencer of the Year – Individual who promotes Northeast Pennsylvania by raising awareness about the qualities that make our region a great place to live, work, and play

Young Professional Women’s Leadership Award – This award is from the Athena® International organization to recognize an exceptional individual who demonstrates the highest level of professional excellence in her business or profession, has devoted time and energy to the community in a meaningful way, and, most especially, has generously assisted other women in attaining their full potential.

Young Professional DEI Champion Award – A young professional who strives to prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion in their business or profession, has devoted time and energy to the DEI community in a meaningful way, has given back to the community, and, most especially, has generously assisted other minority groups in attaining their full potential.

Young Professional Development Award– This award is presented to a company/organization located in the Greater Wyoming Valley area who has dedicated resources to developing the future leaders of our community. These efforts should be aimed at Young Professionals between the ages of 18-40.

Get Involved in Community Initiatives – Become A Mentor or Mentee in Our New Women’s Network Program!

 

 

We’re looking for inspired women to join us as mentees and mentors for a new mentorship program that will elevate professionals in our area, presented by the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber’s Women’s Network in partnership with Leadership Northeast!

The goal for this mentorship program is to foster leadership qualities, initiate future opportunities, and build your professional network. To sign up, complete the form below, and we will connect you to mentors or mentees that share similar interests and skills. The Elevate Women’s Network Mentorship Program can be structured or casual, based on your preference and availability.
