NEPA’s Summer in the City is an organization founded in 2022 meant to assist causes in the NEPA region while offering youth leadership development opportunities that combine their outside interests with philanthropy.

Each summer, the all high school-aged “SITC” team identifies a different, local community need to fundraise for, and then selects a specially qualified 501c3 organization to work with throughout the summer. From there, their committee draws in and develops students from all across the region and collaborates with an array of NEPA municipalities/cities to put on a series of summer fun-filled events from bingos and bake sales to talent shows and festivals.

Beyond the locality of their efforts, NEPA’s Summer in the City provides sustained connections to local non-profits. They do so to provide youth with leadership opportunities and guide them to create fundraisers and events based around their interests. It is their hope that their team’s dedication will be able to play some role, however small, in the development of the NEPA region while ensuring youth have opportunities to grow, learn, and involve themselves at every turn of the process.
