From the uplifting tunes to the spirited plot, the film “White Christmas” has withstood the test of time and continues to entertain audiences decades after its debut in 1941.
Irving Berlin’s classic tale comes to the stage at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster County where you can enjoy a buffet-style dinner and top-notch presentation in a cozy atmosphere.
The story centers around two singers, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, portrayed in the movie by Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, respectively, who join forces with sister act Betty and Judy Haynes (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen) to perform a Christmas show in rural Vermont. While there they encounter Gen. Waverly, the boys’ commander in World War II who they learn is experiencing financial difficulties. In order to save the general’s quaint country inn, they stage a fun-filled musical extravaganza.
The show features songs like “White Christmas,” “The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing,” and “Blue Skies.”
This tour is on Black Friday, Nov. 29, and is an evening performance. Before heading out to Dutch Apple, we’ll stop at Kitchen Kettle Village which is the perfect location to do some Christmas shopping.
