PA CareerLink® Paves the Way for Employers in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties to Help Employees Gain Career Changing Training.
Have you ever considered the benefit of advanced training in a workforce setting? Training has become an important benefit that employees look for in the workplace. When employers dedicate time to put towards upskilling, it shows:
- Dedication to employee success
- Devotion to employee satisfaction
- Determination to improve the workplace environment
PA CareerLink® has taken action to help employers fulfill this need, and save money, through the Incumbent Worker Training Program, which reimburses employers the cost of training. This program was built on the Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Development Board’s commitment to promoting education and training for incumbent workers to advance their careers and skill levels, thus strengthening the regional workforce.
What is an Incumbent Worker?
This is an individual who is employed, meets Fair Labor Standards Act requirements for employer-employee relationships, and has an established employment history with the employer for six months or more.
So, how does this program help employers and employees through professional training?
The Incumbent Working Training (IWT) Program is intended to help employers retain a skilled workforce or avert the need to lay off. The training assists workers in High Priority Occupation obtain the skills necessary to retain employment, increase the competitiveness of the employer and employee, and upgrade the skills of the current workforce.
Qualified companies can be reimbursed up to $3,000 per employee, per class for the training. Training must be provided by an outside source for employees that meet the credentials of the IWT. All that is needed is an employee’s completed application.
How do I get my company to sponsor me or how can I get my company started in this program?
Simple! Follow the guidelines below:
- Employees must have an established employment history of six (6) months or more with the sponsoring company, earn a minimum of $12.00/hr., and be registered on the PA CareerLink® website
- Employers must complete the application and forward it to the contact listed.
- Be contacted by a PA CareerLink® Representative who will be your point of contact through the application process.
