Merli-Sarnoski Park is located in Greenfield Township off route 106 just outside of Carbondale. The park was dedicated in 1978 and is named after Gino Merli and Joseph Sarnoski, two Lackawanna County Congressional Medal of Honor recipients.
Covering 850 acres of land, Merli-Sarnoski Park offers many hiking and mountain biking trails to explore. There is also a 35-acre stocked lake for fishing and swimming. The park hosts several sports fields, pavilions, a playground and much more.
Merli-Sarnoski park is an ideal place to enjoy a little outdoor activity. Jog, walk, or ride through the 8 miles of mountain biking trails and 15 miles of hiking trails. These trails loop around the lake, so you certainly won’t miss some great lake views and benches along the way.
Smooth to moderate single-track trails with great climbs and flowy descents are great for any biking skill level. Choose between a number of marked trails and take it slow, or shred your way through wild, winding descents.
Merli Sarnoski Park is also a great spot for a summer get-together. Rent a park pavilion and throw a sunny day picnic. Guests can enjoy beach access for swimming, boating and fishing. And you can gather up friends and family for an exciting game of basketball, volleyball or soccer.
