Summertime. And the living is easy? Well, Gershwin was never in the Broadway Theatre League office in the summer. Summertime is our time to announce a new season of shows, to process renewals from our season ticket holders and to welcome new season ticket holders into our Broadway family. That is precisely what we are doing this summer.

Just in time for picnics, fireworks, and relaxing family time, we are announcing our 2023-2024 Broadway season here in NEPA with several innovations that we think you will love. First, we are presenting an expanded slate of six shows for our season. Secondly, in response to requests of our season ticket holders, we are changing the start time of our evening shows on Friday and Saturday nights from 8 p.m. curtain to 7:30 p.m. curtain. Broadway in your backyard keeps improving every year.  All shows play four performances. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

It all begins with Jesus Christ Superstar

Our season kicks off on October 27 with the iconic musical Jesus Christ Superstar. This Andrew Lloyd Webber gem is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Jesus Christ Superstar stands out as a unique Broadway musical due to its rock opera format, memorable songs, and enduring appeal. The season next features the Tony Award winning musical comedy Hairspray opening on January 12. You are guaranteed to leave this show with a smile on your face. As the musical says, “You Can’t Stop the Beat.”

After Hairspray, guess what comes out tomorrow? The sun you say? Excellent guess. On February 16, we open our next show, Annie. Bring the kids, bring grandma, bring everyone to this classic musical about little orphan Annie who captured the hearts of everyone in her path. It is truly a celebration of family, optimism, and the American spirit.

We’re Gonna Turn Back Time

The Cher Show (Yes, THAT Cher) takes center stage on March 1. Over six decades of memorable music and enough sequins and Bob Mackie gowns to make your head spin. Three women play this iconic performer representing the various parts of her life. This show is a must see. Do not miss it.

One of the best musicals to hit the Broadway stage over the last several years is coming to NEPA on April 5. Come From Away tells the story of a small Newfoundland town that welcomed 7000 stranded airline passengers on 9/11 when their flights were forced to land.  The stories of the passengers and the locals that “adopted” them, took them into their homes and made them friends for life will stay with you for a long time.  You will not want to be left out on seeing this show.

Finally, closing out our 2023-2024 season on May 17 is Pretty Woman. It is the first time this new musical has ever been presented in NEPA on tour.

Your best guarantee to see them all from great seats is to become a season ticket holder now. Call me at 570-342-7784 for more details on subscribing. You don’t want to miss out on this season. I hope to see you all at the theatre. Enjoy the summer!!
