Cure those winter blues and take a walk through the Electric City during the Scranton Ice Festival.
The Scranton Ice Festival kicked off for the second year on February 4. The festival includes over 50 ice sculptures created by Sculpted Ice Works of Lakeville that can be seen outside of local shops, businesses and restaurants throughout town. There will also be live carving demos throughout the weekend.
We decided to take a stroll through the Electric City to see all the different ice sculptures. Each business was able to choose the design of their sculpture. As a nod to the opening of the Winter Olympics, some businesses went with a winter sports theme.
As a way to help small business owners through the Scranton Small Business Relief Fund, the Scranton Area Community Foundation raised money with donations and sponsorships.
Be sure to stop by Casey’s Corner at the Hilton Scranton to catch performances featuring some awesome local bands. If you ever wanted to try curling or axe throwing, then swing by Bartari to test out your skills! COLTS will also provide free trolley rides throughout town on Saturday, and there will be tons of family activities all weekend long.
Check out our photos, and stop by the Scranton Ice Festival now through Sunday, February 6. Visit their website for a complete map and schedule.
