The Often-Unseen Side of Lake Wallenpaupack
Join us for a brisk forest hike along the Wallenpaupack Creek Trail.
Explore the natural creek bed and forests that sit in the shadow of the dam at one of NEPA’s most popular lakes. The Wallenpaupack Creek Trail is a 1.2-mile, out and back loop through dense forests and wetlands in Hawley. The trail provides a quick and easy hike and offers some intriguing views of the massive flow lines running into Lake Wallenpaupack.
The relatively flat trail features informative plaques detailing the hydroelectric dam’s storied history. You’ll also find convenient lookout points and bridges along the way. There are also ample opportunities to view the abundant wildlife and simply soak in the tranquility of the rarely crowded trail.
The quick hike serves as a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the lake. The easily accessible trail begins at the PPL Environmental Learning Center off of Lake Wallenpaupack Road. You’ll find plenty of parking in the center’s paved lot.
