Anthracite Scenic Trails Association (ASTA) is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that promotes the acquisition, preservation and conservation of abandoned or out-of-service railroad beds in Luzerne County. They help to create and maintain local rail trails, including the Back Mountain Trail and the Black Diamond Trail. They have also worked to create the Luzerne Creekwalk and the Rimple Loop.

By providing trails to the community, ASTA has created opportunities for healthy recreation and transportation. Their work not only provides access to nature, but also preserves the landscapes, habitats and history that make NEPA unique. They also promote the economic opportunities that trails can provide to a community.
