Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve health and wellness by collaboratively developing and providing education programs to enhance community health and broaden the distribution of a diverse health workforce, particularly for rural and underserved Pennsylvanians.
The Northeast PA Area Health Education Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing access to primary healthcare and contributing toward the quality of health for people in the region, especially in rural and medically underserved areas. They offer a variety of educational programs, many of which are free or at a reduced price. Their programs include:
- A free Freedom from Smoking (smoking cessation) program in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne and Pike Counties.
- A free Diabetes Prevention Program in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Pike and Monroe Counties.
- Accredited Community Health Worker training.
- Working with high school students all the way through college in providing exploration, clinical and didactic experiences in health careers.
