Soak Up All the Holiday Fun in Downtown Scranton
The holiday season is here! And, by all accounts, it’s going to be a magical experience as we launch our holiday campaign, Deck the Downtown, in the Downtown Business District. A project of Scranton Tomorrow, presented by PNC Bank, the campaign encourages everyone to support local during the holiday season through a series of fun initiatives that run through the New Year.
Highlights of Deck the Downtown include Black Friday specials and incentives (November 25), Small Business Saturday promotions (November 26), ‘Tis the Season Sundays (November 27 – January 1, 2023) with extended holiday hours, and A Holiday Open House (December 18) to help you find all those last-minute gifts.
This year’s holiday season is going to be extra special. There’s great energy Downtown, and we’re seeing a return to many of the longtime traditions that were adapted, or on hold, during the pandemic, combined with some wonderful new traditions.
Here are 5 Reasons to Deck the Downtown with Us this Holiday Season
You can shop & dine your way. “There are so many options for Downtown shopping and dining now,” Baldi said. “You can enjoy a leisurely day of shopping, walking from store to store, and taking breaks for coffee, lunch or dinner along the way. Or, you can order from local shops and restaurants online and take advantage of curbside and delivery.”
Downtown is magical this time of year. Storefronts and office windows throughout the Downtown will be decorated as part of our Holiday Window Showcase, an annual tradition that opens on Thanksgiving Eve. Whether you take in the displays on foot, or by car, this is a wonderful way to embrace the spirit of the season with family and friends. With exquisite architecture serving as a backdrop, the Downtown is just beautiful this time of year.
It’s easy to make a day (or weekend) of it. If you’re entertaining guests from out of town, you can plan a full day, or an entire weekend, of holiday fun in and around Downtown Scranton. In addition to nearly 100 shops and more than 60 restaurants and pubs in the Business District, there are museums, art galleries, historic sites, and cultural venues within walking distance, or just minutes away by car.
