Open Your Heart to the Electric City this February
This month, we’re all about hearts – the romantic sort, the one that keeps you ticking and the one at the center of it all in NEPA.
Scranton has been long-celebrated as the economic and cultural hub of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Coincidentally, it also just happened to be incorporated on February 14, 1856 (initially, as a borough in Luzerne County). In honor of The Electric City’s role as the vibrant, beating heart of the region, join Scranton Tomorrow as we get out there and show our city a little love.

You can support your actual physical heart by getting outside and active this month, despite the cold.
First, bundle up and head downtown to the Second Annual Scranton Ice Festival from Feb. 4-6. This year’s festival celebrates the opening of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Enjoy dedicated themes and activities. And check out more than 50 ice sculptures located throughout the downtown business district. As always, there will be plenty of live music, food, family-friendly activities, and more.
Of course, you never need a special invitation to enjoy a brisk winter walk on the quiet Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Scranton alone hosts 6 miles of trail along the Lackawanna River. And you can hop on at any one of 10 convenient trailheads from the south to north side of the city.
And you can just as easily enjoy a stroll through the bright lights of downtown. If you enjoy cityscapes, Scranton offers a magnificent assortment of architecture. There’s so much to love about downtown Scranton dining that it’s hard to know where to start. Dining local is easier than ever in the Downtown Scranton Business District. The city features more than 60 restaurants, cafes and pubs, offering indoor, curbside, takeout and delivery options. Restaurants have suffered greatly as a result of COVID-19, perhaps more than any other kind of establishment. Why not love and support these vital small businesses while you wine and dine your sweetheart?
