Upcoming Council Event Spotlights – Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD)!
Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) is an exciting event that gives attendees an opportunity to learn about advocacy on the local and state level. Presented in partnership with our regional Chambers, LEAD is designed to further attendees’ knowledge of the legislative process, grassroots advocacy, and major current statewide and national policy initiatives. Led by event co-chairs, Alana Roberts of PPL Electric Utilities and Holly Pilcavage of Coal Creative, LEAD will take place this Friday, October 14th at the Woodlands Inn. The event is a revamp of the Chamber’s Legislative Breakfast that traditionally occurred around the same time each year.
This new event is a partnership with the Back Mountain Chamber of Commerce, Pittston Chamber of Commerce, Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, Scranton Chamber of Commerce, and the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce. This year looks to expand to a half-day event with sessions covering a larger array of advocacy and government affairs topics. Some examples of sessions that you can expect to see that day include a Mayor Roundtable featuring some of our area’s mayors and a Transportation Panel discussing some challenges and opportunities the area faces related to transportation to name a few. The day will end with our keynote presenter, Luke Bernstein, CEO of the PA Chamber of Business and Industry. Interested attendees can register

Get Involved in Community Initiatives: Ugly Sweater Party and Volunteering with Valley Santa!
Be sure to mark your calendars because we will be holding our 2nd Annual Chamber Ugly Sweater Holiday Party hosted by the Young Professional Council on December 15th. This holiday party invites members from every Chamber council and our community to network and support a great cause. There will be food, fun, and, of course, an Ugly Sweater Contest! We will also have basket raffles and surprises throughout the evening. Proceeds from this event will benefit Valley Santa, a local non-profit working to give Christmas to every child in Luzerne County.
And, to tie it all together in the spirit of the holiday season, we will have the opportunity to volunteer with Valley Santa one week before the event on Wednesday, December 1st at 5:30 PM, where we will be assisting with gift wrapping! To attend the event, register HERE! To volunteer with us, email ahmad@wyomingvalleychamber.org!
