In just 9 months of 1970, the Grateful Dead recorded and released their 4th and 5th studio albums, Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. Featuring 18 songs including “Uncle John’s Band,” “Casey Jones”, “Box of Rain,” and “Sugar Magnolia,” they fused rock, blues, bluegrass, folk and country music, redefining the direction of the band by combining the jam-based psychedelic 60’s with a more song-based traditional sound that would carry them through their 30-year journey.

The creative force behind DOL, Marc Muller, has assembled an impressive cast of world class musicians to reproduce virtually every note of every instrument, as well as all the beautifully orchestrated vocal arrangements that are a trademark of these 2 American classics, to a level that’s perhaps never been accomplished and performed live in concert before.

In this unique, “needle-to-vinyl” live Dead experience you’ll hear Bobby’s “Weir’d” angular guitar rhythms, Phil’s rootless syncopations, dancing drums of Billy and Mickey, and the tone and touch of Jerry’s guitar, banjo and pedal steel, as well as the heart and soul, bluesy grit of Pigpen. All recreated lovingly with “Dead On” accuracy and feel.

While proudly presenting this note for note recreation, of course, remaining true to the Dead’s spirit of freedom and sonic exploration, DOL always provides plenty of good old Grateful jamming to get the kids to dance and shake their bones!
