The Story of Mauch Chunk

Learn the history of Mauch Chunk, now known as Jim Thorpe, at the Mauch Chunk Museum. Exhibits cover the settlement and Jim Thorpe’s rise to prominence as a leading provider of anthracite coal. Included is the history of the area’s Lenape Indian tribe, and the story of the Olympian Jim Thorpe, for whom the modern town was named.
