Constructed in 1934, the YMCA building showcases a design inspired by medieval palatial architecture. Wilkes-Barre architect Thomas A. Foster drew from medieval palaces to create a welcoming exterior. This design choice imparts a sense of grandeur and permanence, aligning with the institution’s role as a central community hub. The building was constructed in fifteen months during the depression by the A.J. Sordoni Contracting Company.
