LET’S GO PENS!

Since 1999, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have been the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. The “Baby Pens,” as locals have come to know them, have served as one of the major talent pools for their parent club.

Hockey fans decked out in their team jerseys, along with Tux the Penguin, the Pen’s incredulous mascot, never miss a home game at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, just off of I-81 in Wilkes-Barre Township.

In their relatively short history as a franchise, the Baby Pens have made it into the Calder Cup Playoffs for 15 straight seasons, and they’ve gone all the way to the final three times. Prior to the 2009–2010 season, the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza was the site of the inaugural Penguins Black and Gold Game, an intra-squad game which featured members of the Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and included NHL legends Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
