Dingmans Falls Visitor Center | Two breathtaking waterfalls in one easy hike

Dingmans Falls Visitor Center in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a great starting point for a NEPA waterfall adventure. Though the park spans over 67,000 acres, this visitor center leads to two of its most iconic waterfalls along a single, scenic trail.

The Dingmans Creek Trail begins just behind the center and guides visitors through a shaded hemlock ravine. After only 0.4 miles, the trail arrives at Silverthread Falls. This slender, 80-foot cascade drops through a narrow rock crevice, forming a delicate ribbon of water shaped by time and erosion.

A little farther along, the trail ends at the 130-foot Dingmans Falls—the second tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. A viewing platform at the base provides a close-up look, while a stair climb to the top rewards hikers with stunning aerial views. The trail is ADA-accessible and well-maintained, making it suitable for visitors of all abilities.

In summer, rhododendron bushes bloom along the boardwalk, adding color and fragrance to the peaceful path. The visitor center also features seasonal exhibits, knowledgeable rangers, and occasional guided walks that highlight the area’s geology and wildlife. Although the center operates from late May through October, the surrounding trails remain open year-round.

Thanks to its easy access, beautiful views, and well-kept trails, this short hike appeals to all experience levels. Whether you’re after a quiet walk or the perfect photo, it delivers.

Dingmans Falls Visitor Center in Dingmans Ferry is an ideal gateway to two of Pennsylvania’s most impressive waterfalls.

*Dingmans Falls access roads, visitor center, and trail system will be closed for maintenance and repairs throughout the summer of 2025. Beginning May 23, 2025, the temporary visitor center will be located at the Bushkill Meeting Center on Route 209 in Lehman Township.*
