Popular, Free Summer Concert Series Rocks Wilkes-Barre River Common In July
Rockin’ the River returns to Wilkes-Barre for its 6th year. Since 2019, the popular, free concert series, presented by the Luzerne County Visitors Bureau, has lit up the riverfront stage in Downtown Wilkes-Barre. Every year, over the three final Fridays in July, thousands have descended upon Wilkes-Barre’s River Common for incredible live music, dancing, food trucks and fun by the river. And this year’s concerts will be no exception.
As is now tradition at Rockin’ the River, the first two evenings will showcase a live tribute act and the final Friday will feature original music. And, of course, local bands will open the show each night.
The Unforgettable Fire: A Tribute to U2
Don’t miss this incredible tribute act belting out hits from one of the world’s most successful touring bands. Catch favorites like “One,” “Where the Streets have no Name” and “With or Without You” to name a few. Local favorites, The TRiBE will open the show.

You just can’t beat a little live music and a sunset on the river!
As always, every show in the Rockin’ the River series is free and open to all ages. Seating is available throughout the River Common area on the grass lawn and concrete (please avoid sitting on stairs). Gates will open at 5PM. All music will run from 6PM – 9PM. Several food vendors will be on hand and there will be beer from Susquehanna Brewing Company and wine from Bank+Vine.

The River Common in Downtown Wilkes-Barre is located on the eastern bank of the Susquehanna River between the Market St. Bridge and the Luzerne County Courthouse.
The manicured green space features a massive, 750-seat amphitheater, trees, gardens, paved walkways and a fishing pier. The centrally-located park also features easy access to plenty of downtown parking, Public Square, restaurants, shopping and more. The space is often the site of local events and it can be booked for private gatherings like weddings and family reunions.
